Final Cut Pro X Redesigned. 10.3.

Post-production. Fast-forwarded.

This is Apple’s tag line for its latest upgrade version of FCPX. While there are important features, changes, additions, and bug fixes in the application, the most apparent and striking change to the application is its complete design makeover into the new flat style introduced in OS X Yosemite. However, Yosemite is no longer supported; the application requires El Capitan 10.11.4 or later, incluing macOS Sierra.

The major feature upgrade is to Roles, which how can be color coded and arranged in stacked groups in the Timeline using the Index, making it instantly clear and easy to see what everything is and where it is.

Technical enhancements include support for wide color gamuts while outputting Rec. 709 or Rec. 2020. In addition there is more support for newer formats from Sony and Canon, as well as a brand new format that allows ProRes encoding inside an MXF wrapper.

And a long-time major request has been included: the return of Remove Attributes.

WARNING

Do NOT upgrade to the new version of FCP in mid-project without complete backup of media, libraries, plugins, and applications as there is no backward compatibility.
